Main Info
The Ypapanti – Varlaam trail starts about 20 meters before you find the statue of Papathimios Vlachavas, and ends at the entrance of the monastery of Varlaam. It is a beautiful technical trail passing many places offering amazing views to the west. The last part of this trail is also part of the Meteora Trail Run race and you can find the red signs of the MTR throughout it.

Located at the end of the trail, this is the statue of a hore of the Greek Revolution. It is also an amazing place to rest and check the view.
Fully constructed inside a large cavity of a rock, this monastery is very indicative of its kind, compared to the ones that are usually seen on the peaks of rocks. You can see this monastery near the end of the trail.
The Monastery of Varlaam is the second biggest monastery at Meteora. It is located next to the Monastery of Great Meteoron the oldest and biggest of them all and was founded in the 14th century Hiossios Varlaam.
